As the day comes on the myriad melodious forms of sea-bird settle into their activities — gulls veering and looping, cormorants guarding their nests in the high rocks, sandpipers ascurry at the water’s edge, pelicans skimming and plummeting, coastal jackdaws grubbing for dainties.
